SUMMARY:Wild Wednesday Quick Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Stop in for our once a month Wednesday quick tournament.  This event will be at 7 pm.  Players and sections will be determined based on entries.  Generally there are 2 sections.  The event usually takes less than 2 hours and has a few trophy prizes.  This will alternate every 2 weeks with a blitz tournament with the same set up.  The blitz event is 3 d2.  The time for this event is G8 d3\, to help everyone get ready for the state quick champoionship the Friday night (3/6) before the main state championship.

DESCRIPTION:$100 Open Prize – 4 Round G40\, d5 \nG40\, d5 is the longest we can easily make and still complete in about 5 to 6 hours.\nWe are doing a longer time control to help people get ready for the State Championships in Harrkbur the following weekend.\nThe 1st round will start at 12 and the other rounds – roughly 12\, 1:30\, 3\, and 4:30 (will be paired as soon as possible.)\nThe sections are Open\, Under 1100\, Under 800\, and Under 500 (sections are chosen to copy some of the sections at the state championship the following weekend.)  The Open has 3 trophy prizes and a $100 for first place.  The other sections will have at least three trophy prizes.  Hope to see everyone there!

You must be 50 or older to play as of 8/3/25 (when the Irwin tournament starts all participants must be 50 or over.)  You may be from any state. However\, to represent Pennsylvania in the Irwin Championship at the U. S. Open\, you must be a citizen of Pennsylvania.\nOne section – G/90 d5. Round Times: Saturday – 10 – 1:30 – 5; Sunday 9:30 – 1\nPrizes: Irwin representative for top Pennsylvanian; 1st Overall – $200\, 2nd Overall – $100; Top Under 2000 – $90; Top Under 1800 – $80; Top Under 1600 – $70; Top Under 1400 – $60; Top Under 1200 – $50; Top Under 1000 – $50; Top Upset – $50 \nEntry Fee: $30\nPlease note that there are stairs to both playing areas. If this is a problem\, I can arrange to use a room on the main floor (there are still two steps to get into the building)\, but it would be helpful to know beforehand. Coffee/tea/water is available. Fast food/sit-down restaurants/convenience stores are within a few minutes’ commute. Two or three hotels are about 5 minutes away\, and many are within about 20 minutes. DESCRIPTION:Tri-Bridges Chess Club is fortunate to have Grandmaster Bryan Smith give a simul for our members.  All are welcome.  It is $20.\n\nBryan Smith grew up in Anchorage\, Alaska. He became a grandmaster in 2013 and is the first and only one from Alaska.\nSome major tournaments he has won include the National Chess Congress in 2008\, 2009\, and 2017; the 2006 U.S. Masters\, the 2010 Philadelphia International; and the 2011 Limpedea Cup (Romania).\nHe was the Pennsylvania Champion in 2007.\nMost recently he won the championship of the Württemberg region of Germany in 2025.\nHe has written a book\, The Najdorf in Black and White as well as a weekly column on Chess.com from 2011 until 2015.
