SUMMARY:Wild Wednesday Quick Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Stop in for our once a month Wednesday quick tournament.  This event will be at 7 pm.  Players and sections will be determined based on entries.  Generally there are 2 sections.  The event usually takes less than 2 hours and has a few trophy prizes.  This will alternate every 2 weeks with a blitz tournament with the same set up.  The blitz event is 3 d2.  The time for this event is 8 d3\, and likely will be in February to help everyone get ready for the state quick champoionship the Friday night before the main state championship.

DESCRIPTION:Piece Play: This class is an introduction to positional concepts such as outposts\, open files\, and weak squares. \nRam Singh is the teacher and the classes will be held at Tri-Bridges Chess Club – 666 Exton Commons\, Exton PA 19341. \nThe class is 7 weeks with a rolling admission.  The cost is $70 or part of that based on enrollment date. The classes will be 1/12\, 1/19\, 1/26\, 2/2\, 2/9\, 2/16\, and 2/23 (Makeup on 3/2) \nA brief chess bio about Ram: \nRam Singh is an experienced chess player who has been attending this club on and off since its founding in 2013. He has reached a peak USCF rating of 1960 and has multiple wins in class A sections of large events like the National Chess Congress and Liberty Bell Open. He has been teaching classes intermittently for 7 years and does take private students. \n

DESCRIPTION:This is our most popular class.  It is a class for people who know how to move the pieces\, but not too much else.  Basic tactics are covered\, as well as a few of the more famous chess mating patterns. A booklet accompanies the class and will be available in week 2. The booklet includes a few additional examples that students can use to practice the concepts taught in class. The booklet is free upon joining the class. \nPlease note that the cost is $80 for the entire course\, not just one class.

DESCRIPTION:For those of you who don’t know\, we actually have an Instagram page though it is sadly run by me.  Fortunately\, Vahini has decided to take over and at this she is way more competent than I.  Inspired by a little typo (she is good but not perfect\, shucks\, she is human like the rest of us)\, we will be running a rather unusual tournament this Friday the 24th.  I figured since Vahini could inspire it but not attend it; her sister Roshini (along with Shrena Gandhe) could design it. \nAs you might expect from two young players\, it leans towards beginners.  Upon further discussions the girls also wanted the sections to be named after girls involved in this in some way.  Thus\, each section will be named after one of the girls.  The sections are as follows: Coralie – Under 200\, Shrena – Under 400\, Samika – Under 600\, Roshini – Under 1000\, and Vahini – Open sections.  All sections will be 3 rounds of G/25\, d5\, and I would strongly expect the 3 lowest sections to be done by about 9.   As for prizes there will be $50 for the Open.  The rest will have trophies\, t-shirts\, a ring (from Crown Awards\, not Cartier)\, and LEGOS! \nWe will see if we can have a fun surprise or two\, something so that we can give Vahini plenty of material for her instagraming (is that an actual verb?) \nFor one more fun bonus the entry fee is just $10. \nOur “resident” 1800 is unavailable this Friday\, making this the perfect time for the 1000 – 1400 to come out and try to win money in the Open section.
